Are you finding IGCSE Economics data response taking too much time to tackle? Well, fret no more! Today, I'm sharing some valuable tips to help you speed up your exam process and maximize your scores.
Step 1: Mark Key Words
Upon receiving your exam paper, quickly identify the key words for questions (g) and (h).
Copy these onto the page where the extract is read to save time flipping back and forth.
As you read through the material, mark any sentences related to these key words with g1/g2/g3 or h/h2/h3.
Step 2: Answer Methodically
Start by answering the questions in the order they appear.
After reading the data/table, answer the corresponding question (a) and show your working if it's worth 2 marks.
Proceed to answer questions (b), (c), (d), and (e) sequentially.
For question (f), which is about relationship analysis, use the fixed answering technique and structure that I taught before.
Step 3: Efficient Reading
As you progress through the questions, read the article with the key words for the next question in mind.
Focus on finding the relevant material for each question rather than reading the entire text.
Step 4: Strategic Approach to Discuss Questions
After completing the full reading, tackle questions (g) and (h).
Refer back to the marked sentences (g1/g2/g3 and h/h2/h3) to find three valid points for the 6-mark Discuss questions.
Remember, for Discuss questions, you only need 4 mark for pros and 2 marks for cons or 4 mark for cons and 2 mark for pros to score full marks.
However, you can always write more to secure the marks, especially if you're unsure whether your points will be credited. Providing additional points can act as a backup strategy.
Step 5: Practice and Preparation
Practice writing logical chains by May to enhance your efficiency.
Utilize past papers for practice and aim to finish a set of Data response questions in less than 30 minutes.
By following these strategies, you can efficiently review and secure an A*.
